About Us
Slugs for Coast Connect is here to advocate for a sustainable public transportation system that serves all of Santa Cruz County. More specifcally, we are here to advocate for the three pillars of the Coast Connect vision: 1) Complete the 32 mile long rail trail from Watsonville to Davenport 2)Impliment electric passenger light rail service from Watsonville to the Westside of Santa Cruz and 3) Improve walkablilty and bikeabilty county wide.

Complete the Trail
Residents of the Westside know very well how nice the addition of the rail trail has been to connecting our neighborhood. Completing the trail county wide will give residents safe walking and biking routes to complete errans and other dailty tasks, reducing the number of car trips needed at a local level.

Impliment Passenger Light Rail
Once the trail is complete, we want to impliment clean electric passenger light rail, connecting the county and giving residents a reliable and eco-friendly method to travel in our amazing county.

Create more walkable and bikeable neighborhoods county wide
Creating infrastructure for people outside of cars will ensure that residents will have more options when getting around. Without the proper infrastructure, biking and walking remain unreliable and unsafe when compared to driving. With the reality of climate change looming large, we must all make lifestyle changes in order to ensure our sea-level community remains liveable for generations to come.
